Billy Buys His Harley Davidson
A few weeks ago we met some Harley Davidson riders when we crossed the border to Canada. Since that time we have met up with them a couple of more times and we have enjoyed getting together to ride and to laugh and joke and generally have a good time together.
On our second meeting with our new Canadian friends, they came over here so that Pete could show Billy where Approval Powersports was located since he was interested in buying a Sportster. Since Pete had purchased his Harley here and got such a great deal and such excellent service, he was very adamant that his friend Billy should come to us to buy the used Harley Davidson Sportster that he was interested in buying.
This past Saturday was the day for Billy to do his shopping. He gave Jon a call earlier in the week to let him know that he would be over to see him about buying the bike he was interested in. As I told him before to let me know when he was coming, he also sent me an email to let me know that he had already spoken with Jon and that he would be here around 10:00am that day. I replied that I generally wasn't here on Saturdays and that generally was a day spent with my husband so we could get in some riding time together. But, since he is a friend, I told him that I would come in to help in any way I could to help make his deal go as smoothly as possible. I also mentioned that he should spend some time reviewing our online showroom of used Harley Davidsons to find or narrow down his choice of a Sportster. He said that he had already done that and that it wasn't easy trying to choose just one bike. He saw all of the different models of used Harley Davidsons we have in stock and really wanted to buy a few of the bikes we have, but alas, like most people, he could really only afford to buy just one bike. He said that he had narrowed down his choice of a used Sportster to four bikes and told me which ones they were. With that info in hand I went out to the showroom late Friday and placed a small tag on each of the Sportsters he mentioned as interesting to him as I thought that would make things easier for him and for Jon. I thought that it could reduce his time in store and get him riding his new Sportster. Little did I know or for that matter Jon, that this was still not going to be easy. Even though he said he really wanted a Sportster, it turns out that he was really still undecided about what he wanted. When he arrived here we took him to the Sportsters that I had labeled, but, he also began looking at a Fat Boy Low and a Hertiage Softail. Billy ended up spending around three hours here looking over all of our used Harley Davidsons. He then said to Jon that he couldn't really make up his mind today and that he could leave work early next Wednesday and come back. He assured Jon that he would make up his mind and choose the bike he wanted and that he make his deal then.
The following Wednesday came and he was true to his word. He came back and basically went right over to the bike he wanted and announced that this was the one. He asked about getting a better deal than the asking price of the bike. Jon went back to our manager Gordie and explained what was going on. He told him that Billy was a friend of mine and that one of his former customers had referred Billy to us and that Billy had come twice from Canada to buy his bike here. Usually we can't go much lower than what we price our used Harley Davidsons at since we already price them at prices so much cheaper than anyone else. Gordie took everything into consideration and told Jon that he could give Billy a little bit more off our everyday cheap price. That satisfied Billy and they made their deal. I did the paperwork and handed them to Jon to look over. Billy was excited and thanked everyone involved in the transaction a couple of times over. I couldn't believe his excitement. He was like a kid getting that special toy from Santa Claus at Christmas time.
Before he left he asked what our group was going to be doing this weekend and would we be interested in getting together to ride, eat some burgers and play some pool and darts. He said that the group from Canada knew he was coming here today and they asked him to relay the idea. I told him I would ask our group and said that most likely we would all like to meet up. I told him that I would send him an email and let him know. He said that sounded good and that it was time for him to get going so he could get on his new bike and do some riding.
After Billy left, Jon came up to me and said he was surprised at how everything went today. He figured that Billy would spend a lot of time again deciding which bike he wanted. Not that he wouldn't have minded since everyone has their own ways of doing things and this is a big decision for most people; especially when they actually see all of the used Harley Davidsons we have for sale. But, he also said that like every customer, he was glad that Billy got the Harley Davidson he wanted.
